Clothing

Saving money on clothing is less about budgeting than about being careful about how you spend money.

LaundryAvoid buying garments which can only be dry-cleaned.

Buying second-hand clothing can save a lot of money and can also help contribute to the funds of some charitable organisations.

Try to avoid following fashions. Keep some clothing for best and when it starts to look worn then begin wearing it around home.

Repair holes in clothing as soon as they appear. Keep a mending kit containing different coloured cottons, buttons and needles.

Make sure that every member of the family has clothing that will keep them warm and dry throughout the year. This will help prevent illnesses and visits to the doctor. Put away summer clothing when winter arrives.

Take care to buy footwear that fits well. It will be more comfortable and will help prevent future foot problems.
